Quiet

Quiet
This is last week's word for the Illo Friday art challenge: quiet. I didn't get a chance to post it then but I'll put it here anyway. This bunny on the snow looks quiet to me.

Clean

CLEAN
Illustration Friday’s challenge this week is “CLEAN.” Modern design looks very clean to me. I found a jpeg of a painting I like (Concourse by William Lachowicz, c.1959) and hung it in this virtual room I drew. I’m no designer but it was fun “painting” the walls and “framing” and “unframing” the art work and incorporating it into the room.

Skyline

Skyline
It began as the outline of buildings seen against the sky but I guess my eyes became accustomed to the light. Here's this week's submission to Illustration Friday for the theme: SKYLINE.

Beach Chair

CHAIR
The big leather chair by the standing lamp is great for reading; the designer chair in the living room is nice to look at; the old rattan chair is the place to curl up and watch TV; but my favorite chair’s the one I’m in when I’m down in the Keys sitting by the side of the road drinking Mojitos and selling mangoes. Now that’s poetry. Oh, and here’s a drawing…because "Illustration Friday" wants to see me illustrate "chair."

Glamour

GLAMOUR
When I was a little girl I was fascinated by a perfume bottle on my mother’s dresser. It was dark glass twisted into a candle shape and its stopper was an amber flame. That was my introduction to the fabulous Elsa Schiaparelli. I later came to know that “shocking pink” which was her signature. I have always associated Schiaparelli pink with glamour and though I am by nature conservative in my dress and habits, I keep my admiration for the surreal style and taste I wish I had the nerve and verve to wear.
And so, in answer to this week’s I.F. challenge –GLAMOUR—here is that icon of glamour, the high heel, in “shocking pink.”
