Glamour

GLAMOUR
When I was a little girl I was fascinated by a perfume bottle on my mother’s dresser. It was dark glass twisted into a candle shape and its stopper was an amber flame. That was my introduction to the fabulous Elsa Schiaparelli. I later came to know that “shocking pink” which was her signature. I have always associated Schiaparelli pink with glamour and though I am by nature conservative in my dress and habits, I keep my admiration for the surreal style and taste I wish I had the nerve and verve to wear.
And so, in answer to this week’s I.F. challenge –GLAMOUR—here is that icon of glamour, the high heel, in “shocking pink.”

Blue

Not Quite Blue
This is part of a series on "body parts." It isn't blue yet. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that. But it's almost blue.

Cold

This week's challenge from Illo Friday: COLD
I found some fur in a web search and 'pasted' it on her but she still looks cold to me.

Fresh

This week's topic at Illo Friday is "FRESH." All I could think of was vegetables and they were too hard to draw. So I was about to give up when this image popped into my head and it seemed kind of ''fresh'' to me. Voila.

Escape

I thought about desert islands, and Alcatraz, and hatches, but, hey, here I am in the here and now. As are you.
Here is this week's entry to Illustration Friday.

Depth

Door into the Dark

I love Seamus Heaney's line, "All I see is a door into the dark," with its suggestion of coming from the Light. When I began my Illustration Friday drawing of this week's assignment, "Depth," his words came to my mind. Thus, the title.

Reflection

This week's assignment from Illustration Friday is "Reflection." I had an illustration that I made some time ago which, I think, fits the theme. I painted it to express these lines by Wallace Stevens. (If you want to read his whole poem, go here--Stevens)

Say that the palms are clear in the total blue.
Are clear and are obscure; that it is night;
That the moon shines.
