Happy Halloween

I think you have to consider pumpkin carving art. Here's one that PJ sculpted a couple of years ago but it's still one of my favorites.

Tree in the Median

Thanks for the beautiful painting, Peej! And the cuttings from the real Gumbo-Limbo to plant in the Keys.

Open

The Illustration Friday challenge this week is the word "OPEN." It made me think of the French Open. Here's my submission.

Open: In or Out

ART QUOTE

An empty canvas is a living wonder... far lovelier than certain pictures.
Wassily Kandinsky

No wonder I still get a thrill at the sight of an empty sheet of paper...sometimes even a blank e-document!

The Blues

The Blues. I guess technically this would be the Lavender-Blues or the Violet-Blues. I had it on an easel; I took it off the easel. It's finished. Here it is. Sob.

WEDDING

Weddings are very inspiring so I came up with two pictures. In the first, the whole city is 'blushing' with the bride; the second is a much more contemporary glimpse of a wedding guest.

And, hey, where are the men? Ha ha--I guess it's all about the dresses today.

Alphabet -- the letter V

V is for Violets

I would love to do the whole series, all 26 letters, each one a different flower.

Emergency

Illustration Friday asks that we illustrate our 'take' on the word 'emergency.'

We are told to know where the 'exit' is in case of emergency, but I would hate to be faced with this puzzling way out.

Moon

Found myself drawing another moon picture in the 'paint' program. I like this because it has no color--as is usually the case with moonlight.

Moon

I have a lot of moon pictures but I'm posting this one because it's blue. And now let's go to Illustration Friday to see some others' moon pix.

Discovery

Illustration Friday, one of my favorite sites, suggests we illustrate the word "discovery." As soon as I post this I will head over to that site to see what others have come up with. I imagine a few safari types peeking through the palm fronds.... Anyway, here's mine:

Rejection

Every rejection brings with it the rebuff of the cold shoulder, the brushoff, the nothing-doing-no-way putdown. And that hurts! Go to Illustration Friday to see how others have illustrated 'rejection.'

Suit

Hmm. Short shrift on this topic, SUIT, but who wants to wear a suit in the summer, anyway! I added a little summery color and a suit-like attitude

Carnations

Illustration Friday asked for 'Cars' and I knew I didn't have a 'car' in me! So I started thinking: carbon, cargo, car-hop, cards, carts, and when I hit on carnations I knew I could 'paint' this Memorial Day bouquet.

Polar

POLAR
It's been quite a while since I've posted a pic for Illustration Friday. This week's topic is "Polar" and I made this graphic after visiting the Lofoten Islands which are as close to a pole as I've ever been. It is not specific in any way, just an impression.
